Dreyer’s Facility in Chatsworth to Close

Nestlé USA Inc. is shutting down its Dreyer’s Ice Cream facility in Chatsworth that will result in 47 employees losing their jobs. The food company, based in in Arlington, Va., notified the state’s Employment Development Department last month that the layoffs will take place between Oct. 18 and the end of the year. In May, the company announced it would be closing eight frozen food warehouses by the second quarter of next year. Among the positions to be eliminated in Chatsworth are delivery drivers, pre-sales representatives, sales representatives and retail merchandisers. In addition to California, Nestlé filed notifications in Arizona, Colorado, Kansas, Washington and Florida about layoffs in the range of 56 to 85 workers in each state. Nestlé USA used to be headquartered in Glendale before relocating last year to Virginia.
