DTS Announces Partnership with Tensilica to Offer Audio Products

Audio technology company DTS announced today that it has developed an expanded partnership with IP core company Tensilica to offer the libraries of two of its latest suites, targeting the TV and PC markets. The Calabasas-based company’s Studio Sound suite, which is designed for flat panel TV architecture, and Premium Sound, which is designed for Windows-based devices, will be available to Tensilica users. “With more of our customers demanding access to solutions that create the potential for a high quality audio experience on TVs and PCs, it is essential for us to work closely with DTS, who having recently acquired SRS Labs, holds the industry’s broadest portfolio of audio processing solutions,” said Larry Przywara, Tensilica’s senior director of multimedia marketing, in a prepared statement. DTS acquired the two products early this summer when it acquired SRS Labs and more than 1,000 of its patents. “Tensilica’s DSP cores have become the favorite among our TV and PC partners. Because of this, we believe that our expanded relationship with Tensilica will play an instrumental role in maintaining the successes that both DTS and SRS have had as independent companies, while at the same time providing a strong foundation for future success we anticipate to see in these markets, with DTS having acquired SRS Labs,” said Geir Skaaden, senior vice president, products and platforms at DTS, in a prepared statement.
