Gridtest Systems Charges into European Market

Gridtest Systems Inc., a Westlake Village-based company that manufactures testing equipment for electric-vehicle charging stations, is further expanding into the European market. The company will debut its European EV charging test system at the eCarTec trade show in Munich on Oct. 23. The company’s testing systems emulate specific electric vehicles, and can be taken into the field to test the safety and compatibility of the car with charging stations. “The feedback we’ve received from our European customers indicates that testing with Gridtest’s system is becoming an integral step in the development, deployment and maintenance of both (electrical vehicles and electric-vehicle supply equipment) throughout the European Union,” said Chief Executive Neal Roche, in a prepared statement. The EVE-100 on display in Munich is what the company calls an “EV in a box,” a tool that verifies and tracks the operation of charging stations in the lab or in the field, without having the vehicle present. The system confirms the electrical output and safety of the charging stations. In March, the startup secured seed funding from Pasadena Angels and Tech Coast Angels that it has used to finance its expansion plans. Kelly Goff
