Lancaster: Business-Friendly City Finalist

Lancaster is a finalist for an annual award recognizing the most business-friendly cities in Los Angeles County. Presented by Los Angeles County Economic Development Corp., the Eddy Awards were started in 2006 to highlight cities that “are proactively promoting business-friendly programs and services,” according to the organization. Previous winners include Santa Clarita and Long Beach. Criteria for the award include the number and size of economic development projects during the past three years; business tax rates and fee structures, availability of economic incentives for businesses, and effective government communication with and about business. The LAEDC awards in two categories: cities with more than 50,000 population and cities with less than 50,000. In addition to Lancaster, the finalists for the larger cities are Glendora, Paramount, Pico Rivera and Santa Monica. The winner will be announced at the Nov. 14 Eddy Awards dinner at the Beverly Hilton in Beverly Hills.
