LAX to Set Passenger Traffic Record

Passenger traffic at Los Angeles International Airport dipped in November, but the airport is nevertheless on pace for its busiest year ever, according to figures released by Los Angeles World Airports. About 5.4 million passengers traveled through the airport in November, 8.5 percent fewer than in October but still 6.4 percent more than the same month a year earlier. Year-to-date, more than 64.7 million people have moved through the airport, a 6.3-percent increase over the same period last year. Feeding those gains have been a 7.2 percent spike in international passengers and a 6 percent increase in domestic travel. While passenger traffic numbers dipped last month from October, the airport is still set to report its busiest year ever, with the number of passengers possibly reaching 70 million. That would easily exceed the airport’s record of 67.3 million passengers set in 2000. In November, air cargo increased again, rising 8.4 percent over a year ago.
