Kythera Biopharmaceuticals Inc. announced today that it has named Frederick Beddingfield III, as its Chief Medical Officer. Beddingfield is a dermatologist by trade and joins the company after leaving Allergan Inc. of Irvine, where he worked on its Botox, Juvederm, and Latisse products. Beddingfield will be in charge of all clinical research and development, including strategy, operations, statistics, data management, medical writing and quality for the Calabasas company. “His depth and breadth of experience will undoubtedly help further our mission to bring great science, clinical rigor and real innovation to the growing area of medical aesthetics,” said Chief Executive Keith Leonard, in a statement. Beddingfield replaces Patricia Walker, who joined the company in 2007. Kythera went public Oct. 11 last year in a successful initial public offering that raised more than $70 million for its leading drug candidate, which dissolves fat and reduces double chins.
