New Line Cinemas, the mini major film studio behind the blockbuster “Lord of the Rings” trilogy, is moving to the Warner Bros. Studios lot in Burbank this summer from West Hollywood. New Line will take space in June vacated by production company Legendary Entertainment, which left Warner Bros. following a well-publicized split and now distributes its films through Universal Pictures, according to media reports. New Line was founded by Bob Shaye in 1967 as a distributor of foreign and art house films. The studio was brought into the Time Warner fold in 1996 and merged with Warner Bros. in 2008 when it ceased to operate as a separate studio. Shaye and and Co-Chairman and Co-Chief Executive Michael Lynne left New Line following the merger. In addition to the “Lord of the Rings” films, New Line also produced “Wedding Crasher,” “Horrible Bosses,” and “We’re The Millers.”
