Provision Plans for 2012 Includes 3D Displays in Circle K, Rite Aid

3D holographic display developer Provision Interactive Technologies will roll out its display units in Rite Aid and Circle K stores in 2012. In a letter to company shareholders, Provision Chairman and CEO Curt Thornton outlined the steps the company took in 2011 to get ready to get its display units into retail outlets. Chatsworth-based Provision Interactive Technologies is a subsidiary of Provision Holdings Inc. An agreement with Circle K will have displays in 480 convenience stores in the western region of the U.S., while the Rite Aid agreement will install displays in up to 4,800 pharmacies in the U.S. Private investment firm Lifestyle Ventures, based in Florida, is putting in $3 million for the Circle K roll out. Going into retail stores represents a shift in Provision’s business model; rather than deriving revenue from the sales of the displays alone, Provision will share in the revenue generated from selling advertising on the displays, Thornton said in his letter. “Provision shares ad revenue with retailers and its financing partner, with remaining ad revenues kept by Provision,” Thornton wrote.
