ReachLocal Inc. has named a new chairman and two board members as it continues to pursue its turnaround. The board of the Woodland Hills Internet marketing company elected James Geiger as chairman. Geiger has been a member of the board since 2007. He was chairman of Cbeyond Inc., an Internet and telecommunications service provider, until earlier this year when the Gardena company was acquired by Birch Communications Inc. in Atlanta. Geiger replaces James Garlick, who will retire from the company. The board also appointed board members Tom Hale, chief product officer at HomeAway.com, and Larry Kutscher, chief executive at TravelClick. The appointments were announced on Thursday after markets closed. The leadership changes come at a time when ReachLocal is revamping its business model to compete against other sites and services that market small businesses. The company’s stock has lost about 75 percent of its value this year. In May, it hired Sharon Rowlands as its chief executive, replacing founder Zorick Gordon, who announced his retirement last year. Garlick served as interim chief executive until Rowlands took over. Rowlands had been chief executive of Altegrity Risk International, a global risk management firm in New York. Shares closed up 2 cents, or a fraction of a percent, to $3.19 on the Nasdaq.
