Salem Inks E-Commerce Partnership

Salem Communications Corp. will grow its Christian e-commerce business after signing an agreement with DeeperCalling Media to develop retail websites. In return, Camarillo-based Salem, owner and operator of Christian and conservative radio stations and websites, made an unspecified investment in DeeperCalling to finance continued expansion. The companies made the announcement Oct. 11. DeeperCalling, based in Georgia, will create websites for Salem, including a Christian book store and a church supplies store, the company said in a release. “As we examined the Christian e-commerce marketplace, DeeperCalling stands out as a quality provider of Christian retail websites built from the ground up with highly flexible e-commerce functionality and a vast selection of Christian merchandise,” said David Evans, president of Interactive and Publishing for Salem, in a prepared release. The partnership with DeeperCalling is the second significant move by Salem to strengthen its online presence. In February, the company acquired the online Evangelical Bible Book Store.
