Santa Clarita Aerospace Company Expands Plant

Aerospace Dynamics International Inc. in Santa Clarita is expanding its factory to produce parts for the Airbus A350 XWB, a new fuel-efficient jet developed by the European aircraft manufacturer. The company’s Rye Canyon Road plant will make the gear beams and under-wing pylons for the commercial jet. A groundbreaking will take place Thursday for the 88,000-square-foot expansion, which is expected to open late next year. Aerospace Dynamics has supplied to Airbus for more than 20 years, said company President John Cave. “We are excited to embark on this new adventure together with Airbus and look forward to being a part of creating a new generation of aircraft in the A350 XWB family,” said Cave, in a prepared statement. The A350 is made in three versions that can seat from 270 passengers to 350 passengers. Its airframe is made of advanced composite materials that reduce fuel consumption. The aircraft are expected to begin in service in 2014. ADI is owned by the Marvin Group, a privately-held collection of companies serving the aerospace and defense markets that is based in Inglewood.
