Santa Clarita Economic Development Group Selects Leader

Holly Schroeder, the former head of a construction industry trade group, has been named the president and chief executive of the Santa Clarita Valley Economic Development Corp. Schroeder, of Valencia, begins the job Sept. 9. She replaces Jonas Peterson who left the business development group in June for a job in Las Vegas. Schroeder led the Los Angeles and Ventura Chapter of the Building Industry Association for eight years. She also worked for the state of Oregon. The group’s board did a nationwide search for president but a settled for a local resident with an outstanding reputation and proven track record, said Don Fleming, co-chair of the Santa Clarita Valley Economic Development Corp. “Her intimate knowledge of the Santa Clarita Valley and Southern California business environment and the issues we face will let her hit the ground running as we focus on growing our local job base,” said Fleming, in a prepared statement.
