Solar Panels Installed at Honda Racing Division

A new solar installation at Honda Performance Development will provide power to the research and development area of the facility that makes engines and parts for professional and amateur racers. Honda Soltec Co. Ltd. manufactured the 100-kilowatt array of solar panels installed on the roof, carport and loading dock canopy at the Valencia headquarters of Honda Performance Development. The array is one of the largest installations to date by Honda Soltec. In addition to the R&D area, the solar panels will create energy for an electric vehicle charging station. The installation is a big step in the development of Honda solar equipment, said Mike Hodge, manager of Honda Home Energy for the Power Equipment Division of American Honda Motor Co., Inc. “What we learn from this new project at HPD will provide real-world data and feedback on the use of Honda solar cells in a typical commercial application,” Hodge said in a prepared statement
