Studio City Health Exchange Receives Investment

SeeChange Health LLC announced on Monday an undisclosed investment from the W.K. Kellogg Foundation. The Studio City health insurance exchange was founded last year to serve the growing market for employer-based coverage spurred by the passage of Obamacare. It follows a defined contribution approach, allowing employers to pay a set amount each month per employee, who then choose third-party plans administered by SeeChange. The exchange will use the investment from the foundation to further several of its initiatives. Among them are encouraging healthier behavior among children. “Our emphasis is on early detection of serious conditions through innovative tools and programs. This mission is a natural fit for the Kellogg Foundation, an organization that has long fostered creativity in health care with an emphasis on prevention,” said SeeChange Chief Executive Martin Watson, in a prepared statement. The Kellogg Foundation of Battle Creek, Mich. was founded in 1930 and is an independent foundation associated with the breakfast-cereal company.
