Tablet-Equipped Shopping Carts Debut at Northridge Center

Northridge Fashion Center will be rolling out tablet-equipped stroller shopping carts on Monday after closing. The tablets are designed to educate and entertain children while their parents shop. Managers at Northridge Fashion Center said an estimated 20 shopping carts will be equipped with the tablets. The parent company of the Fashion Center, Chicago-based General Growth Properties Inc., chose Northridge as one of the testing centers to see how these tablets will engage shoppers and their children. The new shopping carts are one of the recent changes the center has made to appeal to families with children. In a recently renovated children’s wing corridor, a play area is located near retail tenants such as Aeropostale’s Inc. junior brand P.S. by Aeropostale and Gym-Mark Inc.’s Crazy 8. Northridge Fashion Center is one of three retail center properties owned by General Growth Properties in the San Fernando Valley. Glendale Galleria and Fallbrook Center are among the company’s properties.
