UCLA Health System and the Motion Picture & Television Fund on Wednesday said UCLA plans to take over operations and leases on six Fund health clinics that now serve entertainment industry workers. The 43 primary care physicians at the clinics would join the UCLA Faculty Practice Group, and many also would also become faculty at the university’s David Geffen School of Medicine. The Fund’s chief medical officer, Dr. Janice Spinner, will stay with the new organization, which will function as independent unit within UCLA. The two organizations plan to implement the integration by late spring if both boards approve an agreement. The Motion Picture & Television Fund, which has had financial challenges in recent years, said partnership will provide stability and improved care for entertainment industry members and their families. UCLA Health already provides services at the Fund’s Wasserman Campus geriatric psychiatry unit in Woodland Hills. “We couldn’t have found a better partner than UCLA Health System to future-proof the provision of high-quality health care for our entertainment industry community,” Fund Chief Executive Bob Beitcher said in a statement. “UCLA has committed to operating the health centers exclusively for the use of industry members, with the same physician group and same clinical staff at the same locations.”
