Valley firms take part in international Ethernet event

Local technology companies are in Amsterdam this week, showing off their Internet technologies during an international Ethernet conference. Among those in attendance at the Carrier Ethernet World Congress are Chatsworth-based MRV Communications Inc. and Calabasas-headquartered Ixia. Ethernet connects multiple computers to form a local network. Carrier technology allows businesses to connect to even larger networks. MRV reported $68.2 million in sales during the second quarter, a 19 percent increase from last year. Ixia also saw sales growth, although it was below the company’s previous projections. The firm’s $69 million in sales during the second quarter was 4 percent higher than in 2010. MRV will be showcasing its OptiSwitch series—a compact carrier Ethernet switching platform—and other technologies. The company will also be taking part in paneled discussions at the four-day event.
