Valley Investment Banker Dies

Gordon Gregory, founder of Sherman Oaks investment bank Mosaic Capital LLC and co-founder of professional networking group ProVisors, has died of complications from cancer. He was 59. Gregory and fellow investment banker Davis Blaine founded ProVisors in 1988 with the aim of connecting lawyers, accountants, investment bankers and other professional services providers. The group how has about 3,000 members in California and the Boston area. Larry Braun, a partner with downtown L.A. law firm Sheppard Mullin Richter & Hampton LLP, said Gregory was always eager to lend a hand to colleagues. “He cared more about other people than he did about himself,” Braun said. “He was always asking, ‘How do I help people be better?’ Some of us joke about him that we’re all his children. He’s been teaching us for years and years how to better ourselves and help better serve our clients’ needs.” Gregory died Monday. He was born in Los Angeles in 1953, Gregory attended USC, UC Berkeley and Hastings College of Law. He started his career with KPMG Peat Marwick. A resident of Hidden Hills, Gregory is survived by three daughters.
