Small business lender Valley Economic Development Center has received a $50,000 grant from Citi Foundation for an entrepreneurial training program. The grant supports the center’s micro enterprise initiative, which assists unemployed workers start their own businesses or transition to a new career. Individuals are given guidance by consultants on creating business plans, building their businesses and finances. “We are proud to work in partnership with Citi to ensure that everyone has access to an entrepreneurial education and financial services they need to succeed and achieve their dreams,” said VEDC Chief Executive Roberto Barragan, in a prepared statement. The Citi Foundation, part of New York global bank Citigroup, supports the economic empowerment of low- to moderate-income people in communities where Citi operates.
