Walmart to Close Simi Valley Store

Walmart will close its store in Simi Valley on May 18. The closure of the store, at 2801 Cochran Street, will affect 130 employees who will be laid off effective June 8. The layoffs will be permanent, but employees will have the opportunity to apply to work at other Walmart or Sam’s Club locations. There are two other Walmart stores in Simi Valley. In January, Walmart announced plans to shutter 63 Sam’s Club locations across the country. Shares of Walmart (WMT) on Wednesday fell 54 cents, less than 1 percent, to close at $85.91 on the New York Stock Exchange.
