Warner Bros. Entertainment scored a monster hit over the weekend with “Godzilla” pulling in $93.2 million, the second-highest grossing opening weekend so far this year. Warner Bros. also distributed the film, directed by Gareth Edwards and starring Bryan Cranston and Aaron Taylor-Johnson. Legendary Pictures, the feature film division of Legendary Entertainment, in Burbank, picked up 75 percent of the estimated $160 million budget. Screenings of “Godzilla” in 3-D and Imax formats were strong. About 51 percent of the weekend audience saw the film in 3-D, while about 15 percent of grosses came from Imax screenings, the Los Angeles Times reported. “Captain America: The Winter Soldier” is so far the opening weekend leader with a gross of $95 million when released in April.
