Warner Bros. Entertainment announced on Tuesday that it is creating a partnership to make investments in Chinese and other international film and television content. The Burbank studio will work with Chinese firms Shanghai Media Group and CMC Capital Partners; WPP plc, a London global advertising, marketing and public relations firm; and RatPac Entertainment, the Universal City production house of film director and producer Brett Ratner. The partnership, called the CMC Creative Fund, will focus on television, film and live event content, with Warner Bros. sharing production and distribution expertise with the Chinese entertainment industry. Warner Bros. Entertainment Chief Executive Kevin Tsujihara called China a market with incredible potential and a wealth of talent. ”We are excited to be working with our partners to continue our history of helping to develop and grow the entertainment industry in China in a respectful and meaningful way,” Tsujihara said in a prepared statement. Last year, Time Warner Inc., the New York parent of Warner Bros., formed a strategic investment partnership with CMC Capital, which is based in Hong Kong. The Chinese investment firm is also part of the joint venture Oriental DreamWorks with DreamWorks Animation SKG Inc., in Glendale, to produce films and other content.
